I was a grade school pip squeak with geeky glasses and an ever runny nose. I has asthma, and allergies, and was a twitchy frightened kid. I did have one attribute that saved me. I liked to draw clever cartoons, and they were popular with a small group of outcast kids. A teacher assigned the class to draw a picture of what we expected to look like at 50 (as best I remember. I wish I had kept that. It was really good.) This led me to a lifelong love of drawing and painting portraits.
Family and friends are my primary subjects though I have done many others as well. I want this to become a more serious post retirement avocation.
With this goal in mind I started refreshing my skills with some practice. As I have practiced recently I did two at my drawing board desk while working customer service from home. They were part of my sentimental journey, as I turned 65. One was of my Father in the last year of his life.

The second was a composite of a snap shot of my Mother in her last year, and her High School portrait.

I am working on more portraits which I will post in the coming days, but wanted to share these while they were still fresh. Act on your own sentimental journey soon, we never know when the journey will reach its summit.
